Suspect named in New York City alleged incendiary device attack, had ‘anti-ICE stuff’ on him

The suspect accused of deploying an incendiary device outside 26 Federal Plaza in New York Monday morning is named Andrew Arrabaca, two law enforcement sources have confirmed to Fox News Digital.

The sources both confirmed that Arrabaca had “anti-ICE stuff on him” at the time of the alleged attack.

The FBI announced that Arrabaca was taken into custody shortly after the incident. 

“This morning an individual deployed an incendiary device outside of 26 Federal Plaza in New York. The individual is in custody and two minor injuries reported thus far. FBI [Joint Terrorism Task Force] is investigating the incident,” FBI Director Kash Patel noted in a post on X.

FBI New York field office Assistant Director in Charge James Barnacle Jr. said that Arrabaca had an unidentified liquid on him, and that he “put the liquid down, set some fireworks on top of it,” causing a “little fire.” Initial reports said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were involved in the arrest. 

According to Barnacle, the suspect was armed with a pellet gun, and that two people, a federal employee and a civilian, were injured. Both were treated and released. 

The building in Lower Manhattan is home to a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani released a statement on X. 

“What occurred outside 26 Federal Plaza this morning was deeply disturbing. I’m relieved no one was seriously injured and that a suspect is in custody. My team is in touch with the NYPD and we will support the federal investigation. Our administration will continue to ensure that every New Yorker is safe in their city — and hold accountable any who threaten that,” he said. 

 The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released further information on alleged attack Monday afternoon. 

“At approximately 8:20 am, an anti-ICE rioter launched fireworks outside of 26 Federal Plaza, grazing a bystander and poured what is believed to be gasoline on the stairs of the entrance of the building and set it on fire,” the agency said in a statement. “An FPS Protective Security Officer swiftly tackled and detained the agitator, sustaining minor injuries during the incident. Officers quickly recovered the individual’s bag, which contained what appeared to be two pellet guns and a manifesto.”

“EMS, FBI, and the NYPD are on the scene. This is a developing situation, and we will update the public when more information is available.”
