Shell share price jumps to record high as crude oil rallies with no end in sight

by September 9, 2026
written by September 9, 2026

Shell share price continued its strong rally, reaching its all-time high as crude oil rally continued, with no end in sight. It jumped to 3,530p, up by nearly 25% from its lowest level in July. This surge makes it one of the best-performing companies in the FTSE 100 Index.

Shell share price is benefiting as crude oil jumps

Shell Plc, formerly known as Royal Dutch Shell, has soared by 42% from its lowest point in January. It mirrors the performance of other energy companies, including BP, Chevron, ExxonMobil, and Marathon Petroleum. BP jumped to 560p, up by 25% from its lowest point in July.

Shell stock has jumped because of the ongoing crude oil surge. Brent, the global benchmark, jumped to $100 for the first time since July. Similarly, the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rose to $94.6.

Oil prices soared as investors came to terms with major events. Ukraine has continued striking Russian oil infrastructure this month. At the same time, the US and Iran escalated their attacks against each other, and there is a risk that the situation will get worse.

The US sank several Iranian tankers this week, with Iran responding by shooting more tankers in the region. Iran has also created an exclusion zone, with officials pledging to sanction ships.

At the same time, Saudi Arabia and Houthis have continued their attacks. In short, there is a likelihood that the attacks in the three areas will continue escalating. Such a move will lead to higher prices.

Indeed, the daily chart shows that WTI has already moved above the upper side of the symmetrical triangle and the crucial resistance at $93.23, its highest point on July 23rd. The Average Directional Index (ADX) has jumped to 19.80, a sign that the trend is gaining momentum.

Shell to benefit from higher oil prices

Shell and other energy companies are set to benefit from the ongoing oil price surge. Its last results showed that the company’s adjusted earnings jumped to $9.8 billion in the second quarter, which helped it to boost its buyback to $3 billion.

The profits jumped substantially as oil prices jumped push its refining margin higher. More data shows that the adjusted EBITDA jumped to $20.7 billion, while its free cash flow soared to $21.4 billion.

Shell’s revenue in the third quarter will likely continue rising because of the rising crude oil prices. Most notably, analysts believe that oil prices will keep rising since there is no end in sight for the three crisis: US-Iran, Saudi Arabia-Yemen, and Russia-Ukraine.

The daily chart shows that the Shell stock has been in a strong rally this week and has just crossed the important resistance level of 3,524p, its highest point in March this year.

Shell formed an inverted head-and-shoulders pattern, a common bullish reversal sign in technical analysis. The Average Directional Index (ADX) has jumped to 34, a sign that the bullish momentum is continuing.

Shell has moved above the Ultimate Resistance level of the Murrey Math Lines tool. Therefore, the shares will likely continue rising as bulls target the key resistance level of 3,600p.
