Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) announced late Monday plans to acquire World Labs, an ambitious AI startup specializing in spatial intelligence and 3D “world models.”
Under the terms of the landmark $8.2 billion all-stock transaction, World Labs founder and AI pioneer Dr. Fei-Fei Li will join AMD as executive vice president and chief scientist, reporting directly to CEO Lisa Su.
The acquisition, expected to close by the end of this year pending regulatory clearance, is AMD’s largest since Xilinx. Note that AMD stock is currently trading at nearly 3x its price at the start of 2026.
