Insiders are buying these 3 stocks: should you too?

Corporate insiders are putting fresh money into Oracle Corp, Applied Digital and DICK’S Sporting Goods, offering investors a reason to examine three very different recovery stories.

The purchases carry weight because executives are committing their own capital. But confidence inside a boardroom can’t settle questions about construction costs, financing or M&A profitability.

The investment case for each firm depends on whether ambitious expansion plans and operational improvements produce returns that justify shareholders’ patience.

Oracle: cloud demand comes with a hefty funding bill

Oracle director Stephen Rusckowski’s living trust purchased 25,000 shares in total on September 29 at a weighted average price of $139.352, committing roughly $3.48 million.

That substantially increased the trust’s holding to 25,390 shares.

The commercial opportunity is substantial. Q1 cloud infrastructure revenue more than doubled to $7.4 billion, while remaining performance obligations (RPOs) reached $664 billion.

However, Oracle expects to recognise only about 13% of those commitments as revenue within 12 months.

Financing deserves equal attention.

Quarterly capital expenditure of more than $28 billion exceeded operating cash flow of $23.1 billion – which benefited from $11.4 billion in customer prepayments carrying a significant financing component.

Rusckowski’s purchase strengthens the confidence argument.

For prospective investors, though, the decisive evidence will be whether expanding cloud capacity eventually generates cash comfortably above its construction bill.

Applied Digital: executives buy into the construction challenge

Applied Digital has the clearest example of multiple executives buying.

CEO Wes Cummins bought 55,803 shares on October 16 at $18.04 – while president Jason Gechen Zhang acquired 300,000 at a weighted average of $18.86.

Together, they invested $6.66 million.

Their commitment accompanies tangible progress: operational capacity at Polaris Forge 1 reached 250 megawatts on October 1.

Across five campuses, leases covered about 1.41 GW and $36 billion of revenue over their initial terms.

Yet contracted sales arrive over years, while construction requires funding upfront.

A subsidiary’s recent $1.59 billion secured-note issuance carries a 7% coupon, illustrating that cost.

The purchases make Applied Digital worth investigating, especially for investors comfortable with development risk.

Following management requires confidence that timely project delivery and operating earnings will adequately compensate shareholders for the financing burden.

DICK’s Sporting Goods: recovery hinges on Foot Locker

Matthew Barnes, president of Foot Locker International, loaded up on 3,665 of DICK’S shares on September 30 for about $500,000.

His position makes the investment especially relevant to the acquired business’ recovery prospects.

Q2 results show the challenge.

Comparable sales increased 4.9% at the core DICK’S business but declined 3.6% at Foot Locker on a pro forma basis.

Foot Locker also posted a $31.9 million segment loss. Full-year adjusted earnings guidance stands at $11–$12 per share.

The appeal is an established retail operation with room to improve acquisition returns.

The risk is that Foot Locker absorbs more of the core business’s success.

Barnes’s purchase warrants attention, but investors should look for stabilising sales and narrowing losses before treating insider confidence as evidence that the integration is delivering.
