US search interest in Meta’s Muse AI hits 90-day high as app tops charts

US search interest in Meta’s latest AI app, Muse, hit a 90-day high on Tuesday as the app climbed to the top of the US App Store charts.

Google Trends data for the US showed search interest for “Muse AI” reaching an index reading of 100 on September 22, the highest level in the 90-day dataset.

Current search interest is about 2.5 times the previous seven-day average of 39.4 and about 5.7 times the previous 30-day average of 17.5.

The seven-day intraday series also accelerated during Tuesday morning, rising from 50 to 69 and then 100.

Meta stock META was up about 1% on Tuesday after gaining 11% on Monday.

Muse adoption outpaces ChatGPT in early comparison

Meta’s Muse appears to be gaining traction quickly among mobile users, according to estimates from market intelligence provider Apptopia.

Apptopia found that Muse had been downloaded more times during its first 12 days on the market than ChatGPT was during the first 12 days following its mobile debut, although the comparison covers the US and Canada.

The two apps had different launch strategies.

ChatGPT initially launched globally on iOS, while Muse is available on both Apple’s App Store and Google Play but is currently limited to the US and Canada.

To make the comparison more consistent, Apptopia examined iOS data from the US and Canada for both applications.

Muse recorded 1.8 million downloads during its first 12 days in this subset, compared with 1.3 million for ChatGPT.

Muse had also recorded 2.8 million total installs globally during its first 12 days, according to Apptopia.

Analysts highlight Muse’s growth and revenue potential

Muse launched on September 8 as an AI assistant capable of performing tasks such as sending emails, booking travel and completing transactions.

The basic version is free, while subscriptions cost $20 or $100 per month for heavier use.

JPMorgan analyst Doug Anmuth said Muse could become a leading consumer AI application. “Muse has the potential to become the most widely used consumer AI application since ChatGPT,” he wrote in a Tuesday note to clients.

Jefferies also raised its price target for Meta to $875 per share from $710, while reiterating its Buy rating.

The brokerage said Muse showed signs of strong consumer adoption and a potentially significant monetisation opportunity through e-commerce and paid subscriptions.

Jefferies sees potential for significant revenue contribution

Jefferies analysts led by Brent Thill said investors had previously discounted the possibility that Meta could develop a personalised consumer AI agent.

The brokerage estimated that if Muse reached 1 billion users by the end of 2027 and at least 3% converted to a paid version, it could generate $10.8 billion in annualised revenue.

Jefferies said the potential revenue contribution could support more than 20% fiscal 2027 growth and create upside to its estimates.
